This is a special year for Youth Ministry as Encompass Youth begins 2023. Formed last year, this ministry hopes to engage young people (Years 9-12 and post school) with new activities and initiatives to explore their faith whilst having the opportunity to connect with others. There will be opportunities in the areas of liturgy, music, outreach, learning and many more.
Preparations are being made for the first Youth Mass for 2023. The event will be held on Sunday, 5 March at 5.00 pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Deepdene. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in hospitality, music, reading, altar service or other areas of Parish Youth Ministry. A link for online registration for roles will soon be made available. Hospitality will take place in the Gathering Space after Mass. This will be an opportunity to meet and have an informal chat on faith and youth ministry with other young people from local parishes and beyond. If you know someone who might be interested please invite them to come along.
One of the biggest events for youth on the international stage takes place in 2023 – World Youth Day (WYD). WYD will be held in Lisbon, Portugal between late July and early August.
Encompass is excited to offer partial funding for those between the ages of 16-35. You may be travelling with a group organised by the Archdiocese of Melbourne or making your own travel plans. Applicants should contact the Parish Office by Friday, 10 March. A brief meeting for applicants will take place on Tuesday, 14 March.
Following WYD participants are invited to continue their involvement in youth activities in the parish.
