Our Lady's 2023

School Voices

We are delighted to share with the parish the wonderful happenings and achievements that have taken place at Our Lady’s Primary School over recent weeks.  We are grateful to the parish community for taking the time to read our contribution to the Parish Newsletter this week.

Our Lady’s Fete

Last Saturday we delighted in another wonderful school fete. Our PFA had worked tirelessly to create a fabulous community event. There were rides, cakes, animals, trumpet playing, white elephant stalls, virtual reality and much much more. We were grateful that the rain eased and the attendance was steady throughout the day. A great day was had by all.

Learning Inquiry

This term at Our Lady’s, our Inquiry question is “What makes this our place?”. Once again we will look to our faith tradition to guide us in this very important question. We will ask ourselves, “What is special about Our Lady’s School? What do we want our place, this school, to be like?” We will also seriously explore the importance of everyone having a place to feel welcome and call home, and take action to help make this happen. We will explore the plight of refugees and asylum seekers. Our faith will guide us in this inquiry to “to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with our God. At our beginning of term Mass we reflected on our inquiry question. Below is a snapshot of responses from each class:

Prep- In this place, Our Lady’s Primary school, we are called to love one another

Year 1/2U- In this place, Our Lady’s Primary school, we are called to look out for those who need help.

Year 1/2L- In this place, Our Lady’s Primary school, we are called to use our words for good.

Year 3/4L- In this place, Our Lady’s Primary school, we are called to forgive.

Year 3/4D- In this place, Our Lady’s Primary school, we are called to actually ‘see’ various needs

Year 5/6B – In this place, Our Lady’s Primary school, we refuse to be bystanders

Year 5/6- In this place, Our Lady’s Primary school, we are called to actively learn about injustices in our world, and then take action.

We look forward to a wonderful term of learning.
