St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal 2020

Andrew Cullinan (Treasurer, Deepdene/Balwyn Conference), Terry Janes (President, Deepdene/Balwyn Conference) and Kevin Rogers (President, Camberwell Conference) meet to plan the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal 2020.

2020 Winter Appeal

The Deepdene/Balwyn and Camberwell Conferences have launched their major fund-raising activity for St Vincent de Paul.  This year, the Society faces ongoing demand from the needy and the disadvantaged for financial and material support, especially during these winter months.  The Coronavirus pandemic is causing additional difficulties with many more people jobless and needy.

Our Conferences are strong and active groups involved in a range of outreach work, including home visits to the needy, locally and in North and South Melbourne.  Our members also volunteer at St Vinnies Stores in Hawthorn and East Kew and support the soup vans.

Your compassion and support makes our work possible. Your donations play a critical role in sustaining the society’s work.  Proceeds from the Vinnies Stores are also important, but the Coronavirus pandemic has closed many Stores, reducing earnings in the past three months by 80%.

We have also provided $9,600 in total assistance to 13 Conferences in India, Myanmar and the Philippines, as well as 32 Assist-a-student scholarships to students in South Asia.

When he founded the Society over 166 years ago, Blessed Frederic Ozanam said to his followers: “Yours must be the work of love, of kindness, you must give your time, your talents, yourselves. The poor person is a unique person of God’s fashioning with an inalienable right to respect.”  We invite you to be a part of this vision.
