Last week’s contribution to the Parish Newsletter was the last in the series which looked at the two Creeds that we regularly use at Mass.
I would be very interested to receive, from parishioners and others, topics of interest or suggestions that they would like me to deal with in this part of the weekly newsletter.
We are living in different times, in times of change which are more radical than the Church has faced before and this requires that we take a good deep look at our faith to see what it means and what lies at its core.
Until the last century, Christians by and large lived in Christian societies where so much of being Christian was taken for granted. We all know from personal experience, or the experience of those close to us, that this is no longer the case.
This is not the end of Christianity but a new beginning. We may have to go through the birth pangs of such a new beginning but, as Pope Francis often says, the gospel is capable of showing a newness in whichever new situation it is proclaimed. There is joy and newness to the rediscovery of the gospel.
So, I would be delighted if parishioners were willing to send in their questions and comments** as a source for continuing this series on Understanding our Faith.
