Season of Creation

Welcome to the Season of Creation 2024
The Season of Creation is celebrated annually by Christian Churches around the world as a time of prayer and action for the safeguarding of our common home through responsible stewardship. The ecumenical season begins on 1 September, the World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation and ends on 4 October, the feast of St Francis of Assisi.

To Hope and Act with Creation
This year’s theme is ‘To Hope and Act with Creation’.
In the letter of Paul the apostle to the Romans, the biblical image pictures the Earth as a Mother, groaning as in childbirth (Rom 8:22). Francis of Assisi understood this when he referred to the Earth as our sister and our mother in his Canticle of Creatures. The times we live in show that we are not relating to the Earth as a gift from our Creator, but rather as a resource to be used. Source: Season of Creation
