Meet our Parish Staff

Fr Sang Ho is the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Pentecost Parish, Balwyn, Camberwell, Deepdene, Surrey Hills and Wattle Park.  Fr Sang is responsible for the effective management, stewardship and spiritual guidance and direction of the parishes and parishioners. Fr Sang also ensures the successful implementation of the Strategic Plans, ensuring that the processes for consultation are adhered to and that the outcomes serve the good of all.

Fr Ian Vergel joined the parish as Assistant Priest in December 2025.  Fr Ian supports the Parish Priest in the provision of spiritual and pastoral support to the parish and parishioners. His duties include officiating at weekday and Sunday celebrations of the Eucharist, funeral liturgies and burials, marriage ceremonies, the Anointing of the Sick and other sacraments. Fr Ian will play a key role in the Baptism Program and in visiting parishioners who are sick and housebound.  Fr Ian is a member of the Parish Pastoral Council.

Katarina coordinates the development and delivery of sacramental programs for school-aged children being prepared for Reconciliation, Eucharist (First Communion) and Confirmation, working in partnership with the Parish Priest and School Religious Education Leaders across our parish. For children who do not attend our parish schools, Katarina leads the Catechist Team in the provision of after school classes to prepare for these sacraments. Katarina also coordinates the parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). In this role, she works collaboratively with the Parish Priest and members of the RCIA Team to prepare adults to become new members of the Catholic Church.

John leads the music ministry across Our Lady of Pentecost Parish, drawing on years of experience and a lifelong connection to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour and Our Holy Redeemer. He has played regularly across all five of our churches since 2021 and brings a strong background in church music, including work at St Patrick’s Cathedral and Immaculate Conception, Hawthorn.

John supports cantors, organists, and choirs; coordinates music for parish Masses and events; and collaborates closely with the Our Lady of Victories Choir. John is committed to helping our parish’s music ministry grow and values the important role music plays in enriching the liturgy.

Maylynn is the first point of contact for parishioners and visitors, providing a welcoming presence either with a smile at the front door, a friendly voice on the telephone or a kind word as she responds to email enquiries.  She is responsible for preparing the weekly parish e-newsletter, keeping the parish community informed about what is happening in our community and beyond.
