OHR French Wine Night

Sacré bleu!  What an amazing event the OHR French Wine Night turned out to be.  Guests entered from the Mont Albert Road stairs (who knew that these doors were still operational?) where their arrival was heralded by an entranceway of lighting in the colors of the French flag.  An Eiffel Tower of lights adorned the center of the hall, while the dulcet tones of a piano accordion filled the room.  The hall was filled with parents, both past and present.  Food platters were arranged at one end of the hall, while wine was served at the other.

A fitting tribute to the McIntosh family, who will be concluding their 18th year at OHR at the end of 2022, was delivered by past parent Danielle Spagnol.

As the night progressed, a DJ took over luring parents onto the dance floor.  All the while, The Tour de France was projected onto the giant screen at the back of the stage.

Congratulations to the PFA, in particular Cam Jackson, for orchestrating the Wine Night.  Many thanks to everyone who volunteered in the lead-up to the event, during the evening itself, and post event (aka clean up).  A special mention to Damian Love, who amongst other things, was responsible for the Eiffel Tower that adorned the hall, and to Katie McIntosh for all her work pre and post the evening.

When the school community arrived in the hall for Monday’s assembly, no evidence of the French Wine Night could be seen whatsoever … the hall was in a spotless state!

Cross Country

It has been a busy start to term 3 for our students.  OHR was represented by Maddy S at the State Cross Country Championships, finishing an amazing second which now means she advances to the National Cross Country Championships which will be held in Adelaide during August.  Maddy now represents Victoria- what a wonderful achievement.  Our congratulations to Maddy.

Caritas and Project Compassion

Recently we had the pleasure of Romina Martinieloo, the Social and Ecological Justice Animator for Caritas visiting our school.  Our school raised an amazing $1,400 for the Project Compassion Appeal held earlier this year.  Romina provided us with an update of the current works being undertaken by Caritas, especially their work in the Ukraine.

As always we are grateful to our school community. Our teachers, students, families, leaders, and staff members make what we do every day possible.
