Catholic Education Week 2021

Celebrated annually, Catholic Education Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the strengths and achievements of our Catholic schools as well as the people who contribute to Catholic Education’s ongoing success.

To commence Catholic Education Week, Archbishop Peter A Comensoli’s message to students emphasised the importance of local connections… in our families, in our homes, our schools and our local area, where we meet those in our lives who can nurture us, love us, encourage us and sometimes even challenge us.

In our community, students from our parish primary schools marked Catholic Education Week in various ways, Camberwell parishioner Kerrie-Anne Porecca reflects on Catholic Education celebrating 200 years in Australia and the Creative Arts Exhibition 2021 online gallery celebrates the talents of our young artists across the Archdiocese.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School

Reflection by Social Justice Leaders, Ruth and Mikayla

On Wednesday 17th of March, OLGC Parish Primary School celebrated St Patrick’s Day. It was an amazing sight as everyone arrived at school in green- themed free dress.

The Justice League hosted the celebrations as part of their Project Compassion Appeal.  Students brought in a gold coin to donate to Caritas and the League worked together to sell green themed treats at the canteen during break times.

To add to the festivities, the afternoon was filled with singing and dancing.  Miss Kennedy ran some Irish dancing lessons for us and our new Parish Music Director Shanti Michael hosted singing in the church.

The day was an absolute blast.  We had great fun celebrating Catholic Education and St Patrick’s day, and raised lots of donations that will help Caritas continue doing their important work.

Our Holy Redeemer School

A busy and active week at  our School

On Wednesday, 17 March, we held the first of two Open Mornings which presented  the opportunity to showcase our school to the broader community.

The annual school House Sports Day was held on Thursday giving the parents a great opportunity to turn up in the sunny conditions and support their children.

The National Day of Action Against Bullying & Violence was also celebrated earlier in the week on Tuesday, 16 March.  The students were placed in mixed age groups where they worked on activities focusing on kindness and elevation of student voice.
