This weekend the annual CatholicCare Victoria’s Pastoral Care Appeal (previously known as Chaplaincy Appeal) will be held at all Masses across our parish. All donations to this appeal support and ensure that Catholic Chaplains may continue to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of the vulnerable, isolated and marginalised in our community by providing pastoral and spiritual support. The Chaplains provide a listening ear and a compassionate presence to (support) many who are in hospitals, prisons and youth justice centres as well as those living with HIV/AIDS.
Sr Mary O’Shannassy SGC has been a prison chaplain for 30 years and leads the prison chaplaincy team to listen, pray and bring hope and courage to more than 5,000 people across 10 prisons within the region. Sr Mary recently shared her experience of chaplaincy in prisons.
Please give generously to the appeal so that Chaplains may continue to bring hope for a way forward and be the messengers of God’s mercy, love and compassion.
