Ministries 2022

New Opportunities in Parish Life 2022

There are many ways to be involved in parish life and support the various ministries and activities that make our communities.  Your very presence in the Church on Sunday is a witness to faith and a great encouragement to others as they gather.  Don’t underestimate the power of ‘just being there.’

We are always welcoming of new people joining our various liturgical ministries.  This might be the year when you would like to become a reader at Mass, assist as a Special Minister of the Eucharist, join one of our Choirs, offer your services as a musician or assist in welcome and hospitality!  If you would like to be part of any of these ministries, please contact the Parish Office.

If you would like to be part of activities beyond the Mass perhaps you could think of some of our outreach activities.  We are always looking for those who are willing to visit the sick and take communion to them.  You can do this by visiting someone at home or in one of the many aged homes in our parishes.  We also have three very active St Vincent de Paul Conferences who make home visits and assist people in need.  Our groups are some of the biggest in the State and make a real difference to people’s lives.  If you would like to be part of these outreach activities or would like to be involved in parish life during 2022 please contact the Parish Office for more information.

Our parishes have also had a long history of support for Asylum Seekers and Refugees.  As well as our ongoing work with CatholicCare to provide housing for Asylum seekers, we are currently supporting the Sisters of Mercy who have opportunities for those who might like to volunteer in their school project for refugees.   Mercy Works Ltd is currently recruiting volunteers to support Refugee Students and Asylum Seekers in Primary and Secondary schools across the Melbourne Archdiocese.  The volunteer commitment is approximately half a day per week for four school terms.  Experience working in an educational setting is preferred but not limited to.  A Training Day for new volunteers with emphasis on Child Safeguarding will take place prior to commencement.

Please contact Sr Mary Lewis RSM for an application form and further information.  Visit Mercy Works website to find out more about the organisation.

There are many ways to live out our faith and make a difference.  Let us know at the Parish Office if we can connect you with the right ministry to match your gifts this year!
