Opening of the Parish Year – Become more involved in Parish life

As the new year begins, our parish community will gather to celebrate the Opening of the Parish Year and the commencement of 2026. All parishioners are warmly invited to join us on Sunday, 15 February at 10.30 am Mass at Our Holy Redeemer Church, Surrey Hills, for the official opening of the parish year.  During Mass, members of our parish community will be commissioned for their ministries and activities for the year ahead, followed by hospitality.

The beginning of the parish year is a wonderful time to consider becoming more involved in parish life. We invite you to explore the many opportunities available and reflect on where your gifts and interests might best be shared. Let us know where and how you would like to participate, and join others in building a vibrant, welcoming parish community.

We welcome new people to assist with visiting and bringing Communion to the sick, supporting our Sunday worshipping community as Parish Life Team members, assisting as Catechists in our Sacramental Program, reading at Mass or assisting with the distribution of Communion, joining a parish hospitality team, or sharing your musicial talents as musicians, cantors or choir members.

There are also practical outreach opportunities, including collecting monthly asylum seeker donation baskets for the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project, participating in our newly established Social Justice Group, and supporting those in need through our active St Vincent de Paul Conferences.

Role descriptions for most of our ministries are available on our website.  To express your interest in a ministry or activity, or if you have any questions, please contact the Parish Office on 9816 9291 or email us at [email protected].
