During the past year much of the 2025 Action Plan for the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) was implemented. This plan drew on the initial 2025–2029 Strategic Plan for the Parish and the 2024 Parish Impact Statement. While much has been achieved across the parish in the areas of Worship, Outreach, Community, Formation and Stewardship, there is still work to be completed to bring the Strategic Plan to full fruition. Consequently, during 2026 the work of the PPC will be ongoing in terms of these original plans.
The PPC has also set priorities for 2026. In addition to the continuing collaboration between the five communities of Our Lady of Pentecost Parish (OLP Parish), the PPC will work towards the unity of the parish with members collaborating for the common mission. As part of this program the PPC will also continue to attend to the needs of the Catholic Chinese Worshipping Community and to foster our relationship with this community. The Youth group, its further and future development, will be another area of priority, as will the incorporation of younger members on the PPC.
The PPC will also continue to review liturgical celebrations throughout the Parish and the capabilities of Fr Sang and Fr Ian to cover the numerous weekend services, weekday Masses, marriages, funerals, baptisms, and reconciliations, while also attending to the needs of three schools across the five communities within the Parish.
Any decision-making with respect to these matters will be informed by the continuing recognition of the Mission Statement and Vision of OLP Parish now and into the future.
The work of the PPC is done in the spirit of Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, calling on us to be consultative and synodal and remembering that:
In this manner it is hoped that the PPC, along with Fr Sang and Fr Ian, will enable Our Lady of Pentecost Parish to be sustainable into the future and its viability achieved, and remains a vital and vibrant community spreading the Good News.
