OLPS School 2022

School Voices

At Our Lady’s Primary School, it is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of Week 3 of Term 3!  This term the students have begun exploring the question “How do we make changes that matter?”  This is a wonderful question for students to explore in their religious education classes.

Students are prompted to reflect upon,

  • What matters?  How do we change?  Do we need to change?
  • How does our faith guide us in knowing what matters?
  • What did Jesus say matters?  What was important to Jesus?
  • What needs to change in our home, school, wider world?
  • We look again at our Social Justice teachings to help us support those in need and ask ‘what action can we take to make a change that matters?’
  • Do we need to make changes in our relationships?  We are called to love and be Peacemakers.
  • We will look at the life of St Mary Mackillop – what mattered to her and what actions she took to support the vulnerable?

We look forward to another wonderful term of learning and partnering with families at home to explore this question of ‘how we make changes that matter’.  Classes have been regularly including this thought provoking question within their prayer times by asking the question, ‘What matters?’  We have been hearing responses such as;

  • honesty matters!
  • communication matters!
  • kindness matters!
  • including others matters!
  • looking out for others matters!
  • trying our best matters!
  • safety matters!
  • caring for the environment matters
  • What matters to you?
Discos matter!

Discos and fun matter!  On 14 July the whole school enjoyed a disco with lots of sparkling lights and groovy and loud music!  We were very grateful to our PFA for organising such a fun event.

Bike Ed Matters!

Bike Ed matters because it teaches the children how to ride safely and responsibly.  We are so lucky to be running Bike Ed at our school for all the students from Prep to Year 6.  The program runs for 6 weeks and we love it!
