Preparing for Mother’s Day at Our Holy Redeemer Primary School

Students at our primary schools have been busy creating presents and making cards for Mother’s Day.

At Our Holy Redeemer, a Mother’s Day Stall was available for students to purchase a wide variety of gifts for their mother or the mother figure(s) in their life.  Each year level at the school created different gifts for their mothers in class.

In Prep the students drew a portrait of their mother, using a fine liner pen to illustrate them, and talked about all their features. A gift of a beautiful card describing their mothers as “a masterpiece” together with some Rocky Road, made by the students, will be given to their mothers on Sunday.  “We are all so lucky to have such amazing mums.  We hope they enjoy all the celebrations on Sunday”.

The Grade 1/2 students completed a questionnaire all about their Mum.  They created a 3D style picture of themselves holding a real flower.  A decorated bag with special art designs housed the Mother’s Day activities the students worked hard on to show their Mum’s how much they are loved.

The Grade 3/4 students wrote a special message from the heart to their mothers, conveying thanks and praise.  Each special message was placed on a blackboard and a photograph of the students holding the blackboard was placed in simple white photo frames.  The frames and cards were beautifully wrapped in specially designed wrapping paper or bag.

Finally, the Grade 5/6 students designed and created air dry clay flowers and tissue paper flowers.  They used these flowers to decorate photo frames as a Mother’s Day gift and wrote beautiful cards for their Mums.  The cards focused on things they were thankful for, as well as the things they particularly love about their precious Mothers.
