Youth Led Mass

Once a month, young people in the community gather at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church for a Youth led Mass. The most notable aspect of these Masses is the music: the youth lead the congregation with a choir and accompanying band to produce beautiful and prayerful hymns that enrich the liturgy.

If you have attended a Youth Mass lately, you may have noticed a familiar face conducting the musicians and even joining in during Mass with his guitar… Father Brendan has been lending his talents to the group!

During May’s Youth Mass, we had some extra participation from Genazzano College. Many students from Genazzano have already been sharing their talents with our parish community; from the Youthled Mass, many young people also participate in our parish through hospitality or as Sacristans.

We’re looking for new members to join our band (aged approximately between 15-25 years). It’s an inclusive and fun space to sing, play and collaborate with like-minded young people. Also, we should probably let Father Brendan get back to saying Mass!

Youth led Masses generally take place on the first Sunday of every month, unless there are other events happening in the parish during this time – in which case the Youth led Mass will be on the second Sunday. The Our next Youth Mass is on Sunday, 13 June. All are welcome. We’d love to share the Youth led Mass with you!
